Letter of Intent Deadline- December 11, 2015

Final Entry Submission Deadline- February 26, 2016

LegacyQuest International Children’s Film and Video Festival is co-sponsored by Archaeological Legacy Institute (ALI) and AntiquityNOW (AN).   It is open to young people between the ages of 12 and 15 (6th – 8th grades) in the United States and abroad.  It will be held in conjunction with The Archaeology Channel (TAC) International Film and Video Festival, May 11-15, 2016, in Eugene, Oregon, USA.  Films must be produced in 2015 and 2016.

Young people are encouraged to submit videos that represent antiquity’s legacy in contemporary life.  For example, students could depict how the invention of the wheel or calendar has contributed to modern society, or how ancient methods of solar energy have informed today’s green technology.  Please view our Festival invitation video.

Entries may be submitted by an individual student (with parent) or by a group or class under the guidance of a teacher (with parent’s permission).

The concept for the festival was designed in accordance with the social studies programs in the United States and correlates with the National Curriculum Standards for Social Studies: A Framework for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment

The festival project will support the development of the following skills in students:

  • Literacy

  • Visual communications
  • Storytelling

  • Collaborative work skills

Incorporating the above skills, LegacyQuest projects can also be effective in addressing students’ different styles of learning and be an exciting and instructive process for students with learning challenges.
